How's this for progress....?

The top LO is my sisters and I chilling in the snow on Christmas day. I included some rudolf paper and so that was the inspiration for my title. I used lots of transparencies and glitter to give it that icicle vibe.

The second LO is one of my fav of all time of my wedding in July. Excellent photo by my BIL Byron. I love the big, bold cardboard letters which I covered in glittery, glossy red paint I think they really work well with the stripy background. I scraplifted the ribbon at the top of the pic from something I saw in SI. The polka dot letters really stand out too. This one needs to be framed...

So here is my entry for the sketch competition on Sarah's Cards Ltd. This is the original sketch we had to use:-

I was quite pleased with the end result. I used a kit my sister got me for Christmas (thanks Mara!) I added glitter to the chipoard cherries so that they glistened. I inked the edges of the paper and then the edges of the black in copper ink. I had these pics from a cupcakerie in Scarborough and my friend Hester pointed out that they both reflected our personalities so that is what the LO is about. I cropped the pics and attached them with sticky fixes so that they look as though they are floating.

Home sweet home!

Phew what a trek. The 7 hours in Dublin airport was a killer - especially since there are no great SB mags out there to entertain me anymore, then Dublin to Brussels where the MIL drove us the two hours to Luxemberg. The worst part about New Years was not having the digi cam as I left the cable at school over the hols - doh! So we got a fugi film and I now still have 25 pics to use up as it is not as exciting taking pics when you can't see them straight away - I must like instant results and that is why I love my photo printer - no more waiting to print pics off.

Then had a ridunculous flight from Frankfurt back to Dublin, those budget airlines are so useless we had to wait an hour on the plane as they had too many people on board and three did not have the boarding cards...what?! How did they get past and on the plane I ask?! Anyways...trips not worth scrapping as the photos would just be me looking bemused and Arne sleeping (can all men just sleep everywhere and in any situation?!)

Dublin was sadly devoid of any scrap shops, the best I got was some mini calendars for 2010 where you can circle the date (I have been wanting these for a while so I was pleased!) I would like one for 2009 tho as i can't use them yet!!!

So back in Leeds and finger crossed for a scrap day * ahem* snow day tomorrow!!

In a bid to keep this scrap related I have posted three old page I made years ago. The first is taken at my friends wedding it was my house mates at the time and our boyfriends, the second is about my dad's quirks and the third were pics from my friends hen do. I think the most striking is the hen do one as i like the spotty green paper and the big bold title with glittery chipboard letters, I think chipboard titles stand out the most and add interest to a page.

If school is on tomorrow then I can get the cable and take some more recent pics of my pages. I have spent the evening not unpacking but trying to get a page done for the twisted sketches website. It is difficult working to a sketch with a theme and it can take some of the creative process away from you, but it can also make you more creative as you have to try new things. So we shall see how I do...

A taster of my wedding LOs...

I have found one of my wedding LOs, I found thinking of different titles for them really difficult as the photos were quite samey. I took inspiration from a classic love song - You're just too good to be true.... I used cut outs from a starry overlay and plain turquoise cardstock, I added some rub ons and clusters of ribbon and buttons to give it more dimension. The purple heart ribbon is from Hobbycraft and was used for our wedding invites and I had so much left over that I have included it on lots of the wedding LOs. The overlay reminds me of fireworks and I thought this was fitting for the photos where we are fizzling with happiness! I inked the edges as no page is complete without this. Our photos were taken at Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds and it made the perfect backdrop as it is stunning. Farewell England!

My camera lead is stuck in school for the hols (as my year 11s were making movies about Inspector Calls) so I can't upload my most recent pages, just some ones I had sent off for competitions and things for SI. I still can't believe it has ceased publishing, it was my fav mag by far. The top LO is about the day I got my official PGCE certificate and went out with course mates and tutor. I am obsessed with turquoise and purple and they feature on most of my LO's. I tried out including my own handwriting on this LO as we are so often encouraged to do...but I still prefer letter stickers or typed text.

The second LO is about my crazy friend Hester Wild Child, she is my old flat mate. I like cutting lettering freehand and using an eclectic mix of patterns and colours. I liked the ribbons as a mat and plan to do it again on a LO. Inside the pic is secret journalling of her some of her craziest antics. The paper is basic grey. I like using passport pics all in a row too and plan to do a LO like this with my hubby.

Well tomorrow we are headingon the craziest journey ever - Leeds Bradford to Dublin, Dublin to Brussels and then Arne's mom is picking us up for the two hour drive to Luxemberg (which is where he grew up.) Quite a lot of effort just to spend New Years with the in-laws. It is supposed to be -18 and really deep snow so at least I'll get some good pics for scrapping!

Now some close ups of my work...My engagement in Paris is a funny, scrapping story as the minute Arne dropped onto one knee in the glacial gardens of the Versailles Castle I immeadiately insisted he wait whilst I get my camera out!!! He was not impressed and didn't understand that unless I could scrap the moment it hadn't happened! I did kill the moment though and he insisted that we don't display the photo as he felt embarrassed by it! Look at the above layout and you will notice the absense of said photo, it has not reappeared after the wedding which I am cross about. This layout features many of my fav techniques inking, embossing, embossed lace and ribbons. I have a whole bag of random ribbons from presents, clothes and bargain basements and I love to put strips of it on LO's.

Wedding srapbook wall

At my wedding we created a scrapbook wall, at the reception venue, to document our childhood, single days, dating and engagement. I had to contact Arne's family to get lots of baby pics of him, many of which are still waiting to be scrapped. I plan to make a mini album entitled "The Adventures of Mini Arne" as he has so many classic stories and no baby book.

Our fantastic photographers (motivstudio) were fascinated by it and so took lots of pics, which are shown in the photo's above.. It was defo the largest audience my scrapping has ever had.

Boxing day maiden blog!

So...I have finally decided to set up a blog as it seems to be what scrappers do. I will have to add some pics of tomorrow as I am on my little sister's laptop now. We have just been out for a midnight session in the snow - a white Christmas - imagine that!! Every scrappers dream I can use all my glitter glue, snowflake brads and gorgeous chilly papers to my hearts galore. Just got to get back to Otley now and start scrapping... I have sent my finished pages off to a few mags and was devastated when Scrapbook Inspirations stopped publishing last month...I was sure I was going to be featured soon enough!
